Let go of Blame - and getting into a Habit...

"My days of whining and complaining about others have come to an end. Nothing is easier than fault finding."
-- Og Mandino

We often expect other people to meet our needs. When they don’t give us what we want, we may feel anger, resentment and even revengeful. Rather than blaming others, we could choose to get in touch with our needs and then fill them ourselves.

"Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame."
-- Erica Jong

"Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity or registering wrong."
-- Charlotte Bronte

Oh how true these quotes are.

I chose them randomly today from the pile which are in my in-box. I used to do this regularly, but when life and life got in the way, I got out of the habit. Now I have decided to reintroduce another habit. At 11.30 each morning when I drink my cup of tea, I am going to take 5 minutes to ponder about the quotations for that day and see if that helps my frame of mind and energy quota.

I do expect others to meet my needs, unfortunately, hadn't really thought about it like that up until now. If I am not enjoying work it is usually because of others, my writing has become quite toxic over the last few months with other's thoughts contaminating the thinking process, and other's needs creating time pressure.

This is cyclical - because I then turn to others to meet my needs such as the social workers, PCT, employer, support services, supply companies etc.

I even expect my craft and hobbies nowadays to meet my needs, and when something goes wrong with a piece of knitting, forget that I should perhaps have been more mindful of what I was actually doing.

Just a thought for myself to ponder on today...
